The nearest patisserie, boulangerie, post office and bars are approximately 3 miles away in a village called Challerange. This village also boasts a station that, in summer, runs a small tourist train every Sunday.

The scenery, especially of the Argonne area, is soft and varied click here for picture. A mixture of old deciduous forest and a mixed farming economy. The villages in the area are pretty click here for picture and for most of the year many are a riot of floral colours. It is a region which lends itself perfectly to walking, cycling, car and motorbike tours.

For those interested in WW1, one week of exploration will be sadly inadequate. The hamlet lay just behind the Hindenberg line, providing us with a legacy of numerous bunkers and blockhouses in the woods around us. La Rosiere, proudly proclaims 2 bunkers and somewhat more tragically, the grave of a WW1 German reservist Within 30 miles there are a huge number of cemeteries and memorials to those who were killed in this most bloodiest of wars.
